How to Apply

Horninglow is an inclusive school that is keen to welcome children from all backgrounds.  We are always happy to welcome prospective parents for a tour of the school and a meeting with a member of our leadership team before your child starts at the school.

Nursery Admissions

Nursery Admissions

Our school has an on-site Nursery.

Admission to the Nursery is managed separately from Reception admissions. A place in the Nursery does not guarantee or give automatic entitlement to a place in the Reception class.

Parents and carers wishing to apply for a Nursery place should contact the school office for information about availability, admission arrangements and the application process.

Reception Admissions

Reception Admissions (Starting School)

Children normally start in our Reception class in the September following their fourth birthday.

Applications for a Reception place must be made through the Local Authority. Applications should be submitted by the published closing date set by the Local Authority.

When there are more applications than places available, places will be allocated in accordance with the school's published Admissions Arrangements and oversubscription criteria.

Our Published Admission Number (PAN) for Reception is set out in our Admissions Arrangements, which are available on this website.

Delayed or Deferred Entry to Reception

Parents and carers may request:

  • deferred entry to Reception until later in the school year (but not beyond the beginning of the term after the child reaches compulsory school age);
  • part-time attendance until the child reaches compulsory school age; or
  • admission outside the normal age group where there are exceptional circumstances.

Requests should be made in writing to the school as early as possible and will be considered in accordance with the School Admissions Code and our published Admissions Arrangements.

The official Staffordshire County Council applications for Reception are available between early November and mid January.
